    I remember that trip!:) I really liked it. I wish I could go to that place once more. We got some front row seats if you where in Ms.Adams class. We saw the 2nd half of the nut cracker.

Animal Adaptations at the Austin Nature & Science Center

Today, SBLC Fourth Graders visited the Austin Nature & Science Center.  We learned about mammals, birds, reptiles and their various adaptations. Our mammal friends included a rabbit...  a ferret... some mice... and a bat! We explored the traits of birds with a ring-necked dove...  a quail...  and an adorable (and blind) screech owl.  We saw first-hand that a bird's bones are hollow (ask your student to tell you why)!  We also learned about the four types of reptiles (again, your student should be able to share those with you) and the bravest of us even touched one! The overall consensus among Fourth Grade SBLC Scientists: a very fun and exciting day of learning! Hooray!
